Ruby Bridges was born on September 8, 1954 in Tylertown, Mississippi. When she was six years old in 1960 she enrolled in William Frantz Public School (which wasn't an intregated school). The only teacher willing to teach Ruby was Barbara Henry. To get into the school safely Ruby had to be led by the Federal Marshal's troops. The students at the school tried to kill her, but she was brave enough to stay in school.Today, there are no more segregated schools in the United States because of Ruby Bridges' actions. Blacks and whites can now be friends without being in danger. Ruby Bridges has changed the United States in a good way forever.
